Install Devcanon on any operating system

Complete CLI and desktop installation instructions for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Choose the installation path that fits how you work. The CLI and desktop app operate on the same local handbook.

Before you begin

• Node.js 20 or newer for CLI installations and desktop updates.
• A terminal with permission to install packages.
• An existing repository, or an empty folder you want to initialize.

macOS

Terminal installation

Install Node.js with Homebrew if needed, install Devcanon globally, then initialize your repository.

Desktop application

Open the macOS release archive, download the latest DMG, open it, and move Devcanon Studio to Applications. If macOS blocks an unsigned preview, verify the release source before using Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

Windows

PowerShell installation

Install the current Node.js LTS release, reopen PowerShell, then run:

Choose an MSI or EXE from the Windows release archive, verify its release notes, run the installer, then launch Devcanon Studio from the Start menu.

Linux

Terminal installation

Use your distribution’s Node.js 20+ package or a version manager, then install and initialize:
